They say ‘time flies when you’re having fun’—and that was definitely the case at this year’s Learning Technologies conference. Find out more about what the Gomo team got up to in this blog from Gomo Managing Director, Gavin Beddow.
Learning Technologies is the biggest event devoted to organizational learning in Europe, with more than 200 exhibitors attending, as well as a speaker program featuring over 70 speakers from all around the world.
I was joined by Gomo’s Global Sales Director, Mike Alcock, VP of Product, Jeff Fissel, and Key Account Manager, Huw Edwards at this year’s conference, held for the first time at the ExCeL London. Even though we were in a bigger venue, there was no doubt that the event was as busy as ever, with an estimated 8,500 visitors over the two days of the event.
This year, Gomo exhibited alongside our colleagues within Learning Technologies Group plc as part of an ‘LTG presents’ stand. It was fantastic to be able to talk to visitors, not only about the Gomo learning suite, but also the extended capabilities and opportunities that Gomo customers can benefit from within the LTG group.
Our key trends from Learning Technologies 2019
We had plenty of great conversations this year, and it was interesting to see a few key themes emerged:
User-generated video
User-generated video was a hot topic at the stand and really seemed to be a strategy that resonated with our visitors. Perhaps that’s not surprising when products like Instilled by PeopleFluent make it so easy for organizations to create bite-size video content, as well as empower their people to create and share their own knowledge and perspectives.
Multi-device learning
While responsive and adaptive design has always been an ‘out of the box’ feature in Gomo Authoring, it seems that visitors still highly valued the ability to create content that works seamlessly across desktop, tablet, and smartphone.
Multi-lingual capabilities are now essential for many global organizations
Multi-lingual capabilities cropped up in many of the conversations we had. This makes sense, as Gomo's Authoring’s support for multi-lingual courses in over 150 languages is a key asset for many of our global clients.
Additionally, along with the increased interest in video in general, the news that Gomo Video can be configured as a multi-lingual platform was very positively received.
With many organizations keen to offer video learning content to a global learning audience, that fact that Gomo Video can automatically generate closed captions and then translate those captions into multiple languages instantly is a very valuable feature.
Gomo’s sessions and demos at Learning Technologies 2019
As usual, the Gomo team was kept extremely busy delivering a range of whistlestop demos of our products.
Over the two days, the team delivered:
- Eight demos showcasing Gomo Authoring’s award-winning features
- Five demos demonstrating how Gomo Video can enable organizations to create, record, repurpose and deliver video content
- Six interactive sessions where we gathered insights on attendees’ expectations of a best-of-breed learning experience platform
Alongside these demos, Mike Alcock and Jeff Fissel also found time to deliver our seminar session, ‘How the Right Tools Can Make You a Winning Learning Leader’.
In a well-attended session, Mike and Jeff explored how Gomo can help organizations:
- solve their everyday learning problems
- meet the needs of the modern learner and modern L&D professional
- manage subject matter expert and user-generated content
All in all, it was yet another fantastic Learning Technologies, and this year it was particularly rewarding to see the energy between the Gomo team and visitors to the conference.
The Gomo learning suite has transformed how teams and designers around the world collaborate during the eLearning production process, and seeing how positively people reacted to it was extremely gratifying.
