Creating and delivering diversity and inclusion training

In the past, our training has been webinar or instructor-led. eLearning gives us a valuable new revenue stream that equips our customers to better scale key diversity and inclusion topics. This Gomo-built course gives us the ability to give on-demand courses and let employees learn at their own pace.

The training programs that Affirmity’s experts deliver to business leaders, recruiters, and employers are designed to help employees change attitudes and behaviors and build an inclusive culture.

The challenge: Increasing demand for scalable, high-quality learning formats

Affirmity's traditional approach to training was webinar-style, instructor-led training packages. While this suited smaller audiences, it did not meet the needs of enterprise training for all employees. The demand for a scalable, high-quality yet cost-effective solution was further accelerated by COVID-19, and the rapid global increase in numbers of employees working from home.

Unconscious bias is a subject that requires empathy and introspection from learners. In our course, Gomo’s many different interactive screen layouts combined with the great imagery LEO selected tell rich and relatable stories from named characters, based on real-life scenarios. This leads to a less regimented and more engaging course that our clients and their employees love.

The solution: Using Gomo's interactive assets to create emotive eLearning

Affirmity worked with LEO Learning and Gomo to create eLearning that could be easily distributed to a global audience. Gomo’s flexibility was a significant factor: the course needed to be easy to deploy regardless of the technical requirements of whoever purchased it. Gomo’s many delivery options—including via SCORM to a client LMS, or LTG’s own Instilled by PeopleFluent Learning Experience Platform (LXP)—made it an instant front-runner.

Gomo helps Affirmity deliver an on-demand eLearning course with a dynamic look and feel, with screen, question, and assessment assets that are concise and interactive. For example, accordions (as seen above) were used to focus learner attention to the key info and filmstrips paired talking points with engaging imagery. Photos of characters could also be clicked to open a subscreen giving an account of unconscious bias.

Additionally, Affirmity used Gomo’s theme capabilities to offer a brand customization option for buyers, helping companies offer training with their own corporate stamp of approval.

The results: First steps into a long-term eLearning program

Affirmity’s on-demand unconscious bias course has proven a successful proof of concept. Pleased with the product’s uptake, Affirmity now plans to create additional courses internally, all using the Gomo authoring tool and incorporating lessons learned in the creation of the unconscious bias course.
